At SYS-CON Media we see our inventories are filling up to 100% capacity for the months of November, December, and January, and we are seeing better-than-normal RFP activity for the first quarter of 2010.
When I say this, I am comparing the current insertion order activity to the same period last year. We will be closing 2009 roughly 32% below 2008 in revenues (far better than any other tech media company), which forced us to reduce our expenses for the same period by around 40%. Last fall, while the world was falling apart, we were preparing for a 40%-45% drop in advertising revenues for 2009. We did better than our worst projections.

5th International Cloud Computing Conference & Expo: Call for Papers Is Open
When we compare the number of RFPs in the pipeline for November 2009 through January 2010 to the same period last year I feel confident that near-term tech spending is promising, at least in our segment of the business. Tech media is traditionally the last to get hit in food chain during a downturn and the first to see the effects of recovering market.
Our observations at SYS-CON Media will be supported by the industry as the earnings news and projections start to come in for the rest of the year.
Cloud Computing Expo 2009 West in Santa Clara
Cloud Computing Expo is the new PC Expo, Comdex or InternetWorld, and will be the next global IT event for the decade starting with 2010.
This year's West Coast conference had 1,700 pre-registered delegates on the Friday before the conference opened. More than 500 additional registrations came in over the weekend and on-site registrations, which brought the number of delegates who registered and attended for the conference to roughly 2,250, more than double a year ago.
As far as the expo floor goes, out of 50 sponsors and exhibitors, 46 companies confirmed during the conference that they will participate in the 2010 Cloud Computing Expo at the same or higher level.
Most exhibitors on the expo floor highlighted the quality of the leads they got from the conference, which is due to the fact that we had no free expo option on the registration page.
I personally believe Cloud Computing Expo had the most qualified audience of any technology event in recent years.
Cloud Computing Expo 2010 East in New York City
The next Cloud Computing Expo will take place in less than six months on April 19-21, 2010 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, with a projected attendance of more than 5,000 delegates and an estimated 80+ vendors on the expo floor.
